Karuizawa Whisky Co., Ltd. operates a distillery in Karuizawa, Japan, where it handles distillation through to maturation of single malt whisky. The company was founded in 2022 by the sixteenth generation of Tozuka Shuzo, a sake brewer that dates its origins to 1653. It has been distilling since December 2022 and says it will not sell new make spirit, releasing whisky only after a ten-year maturation.
