About Angola

Angola is located on the Atlantic coast of Southern Africa, with Portuguese as its official language. The country's economy is primarily recognized for its rich oil reserves, diamond mining, and expanding agricultural sector.

The spirits market

Alcohol is legal in Angola for adults aged 18 and older, though retail sales face strict 300-meter exclusion zones around sensitive facilities under Lei n.º 12/25. Imports are restricted to licensed commercial entities via the ASYCUDA portal and face a 30% duty, 15% Special Consumption Tax, and 14% VAT. Because domestic production focuses primarily on beer, ready-to-drink beverages, and low-cost spirits, strong opportunities exist for exporters of premium Scotch whisky, cognac, and gin.
