About Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is located in Southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. The country's official languages are Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian. Its economy is predominantly driven by manufacturing, energy production, agriculture, and services.

The spirits market

Alcohol sales are legal nationwide through private retail and on-premise channels, with imports permitted only for registered entities through the Indirect Taxation Authority (UINO). Local distilleries primarily produce fruit brandies (rakija), liqueurs, and herbal brandies. Spirits face an excise duty of BAM 15.00 per liter of absolute alcohol, a 17% VAT, and customs duties between 10% and 15%. However, European Union and CEFTA suppliers enjoy 0% preferential duties, creating access to meet growing demand for premium imported whiskies, gins, rums, and vodkas.
