About Cambodia

Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia, bordered by Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. The primary and official language is Khmer. The country's economy is well known for agriculture, textile and garment manufacturing, and tourism.

The spirits market

Alcohol is legal in Cambodia and sold through private retailers, though sales are prohibited near schools, religious sites, and during election periods. Registered commercial entities can import spirits, facing a cumulative tax and tariff burden exceeding 100%. Domestic distilleries manufacture spirits such as whisky, gin, fruit liquor, botanical spirits, vodka, and rum. For exporters, demand exists for premium imported Scotch whisky, cognac, and gin, requiring partnerships with local distributors who can handle high import taxes and advertising permit rules.
