About Georgia

Georgia is located at the intersection of Eastern Europe and Western Asia in the Caucasus region. The official language is Georgian. Its economy is widely known for agriculture, tourism, logistics, and mineral extraction.

The spirits market

Alcohol is legal with a minimum drinking age of 21, though dry areas exist under local referendums. Sales operate under a three-tier system where imported spirits require licensed importers or wholesalers registered with the Georgia Department of Revenue. Imports face federal customs duties alongside a $0.50 per liter state import tax and additional state and local excise taxes. Local producers manufacture spirits including chacha, brandy, vodka, gin, and bourbon, while growing demand for premium and craft products offers opportunities for exporters.
