About Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked, mountainous country located in Central Asia. The primary languages spoken are Kyrgyz and Russian. The national economy is largely driven by agriculture, mining, and trade.

The spirits market

Alcohol is legal in Kyrgyzstan for adults aged 18, though select rural communities enforce local retail bans. Licensed resident companies can import spirits, subject to non-EAEU customs duties of €1.40 to €1.50 per litre of pure alcohol, a 200 KGS per litre excise tax, and 12% VAT. Local manufacturers mainly produce vodka, rectified spirits, brandy, and cognac. Export opportunities center on premium foreign whisky, cognac, and gin for urban venues, subject to mandatory digital marking compliance.
