About Lebanon

Lebanon is located in the Middle East along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Arabic is the official language, alongside widespread use of French and English. The country's economy is traditionally centered on commerce and services, including trade, banking, and tourism.

The spirits market

Alcohol is legal for adults aged 18, though select conservative municipalities enforce bans. Commercially registered companies import spirits for private retail and hospitality distribution. Products face a 5% base tariff, a 3% additional fee, surcharges up to 10%, an excise duty of 1,200 LBP per litre, and 11% VAT. Domestic producers make spirits including arak, gin, and vodka, while dining and nightlife demand creates opportunities for exporters of premium Scotch whisky, vodka, gin, and tequila.
