Alcohol was banned in 1977 and later limited to non-Muslim permit holders. Murree Brewery reported revenue above US$100m in 2025 and resumed beer exports in September 2025 (Wikipedia). Legal spirits imports were only about US$61k in 2024 (UN Comtrade).
Making spirits
Murree Brewery operates units at Rawalpindi (Punjab) and Hattar (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa); its competitor is Quetta Distillery (Wikipedia). Licensing authority not verified.
