About Philippines

The Philippines is an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia, situated in the western Pacific Ocean. Filipino and English serve as its official languages. The national economy is driven primarily by services, manufacturing, and agriculture.

The spirits market

Alcohol is legal for adults aged 18 and older, though local dry areas and temporary bans exist. Sales occur through private retail channels, while accredited importers require licensing from the FDA and customs authorities. Distilled spirits incur 7% to 15% MFN customs duties (0% under ATIGA), 12% VAT, and a two-tier excise tax. Local producers supply lambanog, rum, and gin, while expanding hospitality sectors drive demand for imported premium whiskies, brandies, and gin.
